Unite In Action

Here’s what happens when we work together:

Poverty is reduced.

Juvenile delinquency decreases

Schools & health systems improve.

Response to crises is faster & more efficient.

“When we come together and realize that we can do more together than any of us could do apart, it moves people to action.”

Why Unite Works

Strong Networks

We’re a group of doers: people eager to connect with each other and with the places of need in North County.

Collaborative Work Projects

We connect these “doers” to the right problems, with the right resources, at the right time.

Maximizing Resources

This collaboration improves efficiency, saving time and reducing costs while upholding the high standards required to serve our communities' greatest needs.

Our youth are facing challenges today that require an urgent response.

Oceanside High School Student Wellness Center

The growing mental health crisis among teens is a common issue at our local high schools. Limited resources and staffing make it difficult to offer students a space to unwind, reflect, and regulate during the school day.

Unite North County worked in collaboration with Oceanside High School Principal Skyler Garrahy and other community partners to build a Student Wellness Center. This center is designed to offer critical support to students, providing a food pantry, clothing closet, and a drop-in wellness space where students can access mental health services, counseling, and other resources.

The Student Wellness Center has had a profound impact on the school environment, enhancing students’ mental health, well-being, and overall engagement. The center has played a significant role in increasing student engagement and reducing behavioral issues. This initiative has proven to be an essential intervention, fostering a healthier, more positive school culture that promotes both academic success and emotional resilience.

“We've seen a dramatic decrease in students being suspended out-of-school. They're down into single-digit suspensions this year, which shows me having a wellness space on campus actually makes space for that kid to learn and to be receptive to learning.”
