The Wellness Center at El Camino High School provides students with a welcoming space where they can pause, reset, and care for their mental well-being during the school day.
Created through a collaboration between Unite North County, local businesses, community volunteers, and school leadership, the center reflects a powerful community commitment to supporting young people.
In addition to the student Wellness Center, the project also included the creation of a staff lounge and a dedicated club hub—expanding the impact of the space to support both students and educators.

Today’s students face increasing levels of stress and pressure—from academic demands to challenges outside of school. Without a space to decompress and refocus, these stressors can make it difficult for students to stay engaged in their learning
School leaders at El Camino High School recognized the need for a dedicated environment where students could step away for a moment, regain their focus, and return to class ready to learn.
At the same time, staff members lacked a space of their own to recharge during the school day, and student clubs needed a more functional environment to gather and collaborate.
The school needed spaces that would support the well-being of the entire campus community.

Building on the success of the Wellness Center at Oceanside High School, Unite North County brought together volunteers, local businesses, designers, and community leaders to create a new Wellness Center at El Camino High School.
Community partners donated their time, services, and materials—transforming the space through collaborative design, donated furnishings, and student involvement.
The project included:
A calming Wellness Center where students can take a mental health break, breathe, and reset
—
A comfortable staff lounge designed to give educators a place to recharge
—
A dedicated club hub where student groups can gather and collaborate
—
Student-created artwork, including a mural designed with and painted by El Camino students
—
Together, these spaces create an environment that promotes connection, creativity, and well-being across campus.
The El Camino High School Wellness Center demonstrates what’s possible when a community comes together around a shared goal: supporting young people.
Through the generosity of local businesses, volunteers, and partners, the project created meaningful spaces that help students manage stress, refocus during the day, and feel supported at school.
Students now have a dedicated place to step away when they feel overwhelmed, while teachers have a welcoming space to recharge and collaborate.
Most importantly, the project stands as a reminder that supporting student success is a collective effort—one that involves schools, businesses, community leaders, and volunteers working together to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
“This center, as well as our staff lounge and a club hub for our students, came together because of [Unite’s] generosity, and we could not have done this without them. We're so grateful.”
